Ex Go Go Belinda Carlisle did a damned fine cover of Freda Payne's 1970 smash Band of Gold - in fact, Payne liked Carlisle's treatment so much she recorded a duet of the piece with Carlisle.
Bonnie Bramlet did a great cover of Janis Joplin's Piece o' My Heart, and Joplin's Summertime was an outstanding rendition of Gershwin's oft-covered Porgy and Bess signature tune.
I've liked both kd Lang's and Jeff Buckley's versions of Leonard Cohen's 'Hallelujah'

Jeff Beck also did that beautiful cover of Stevie Wonder's "Cause We've Ended as Lovers."
Yep it's on his Wired album I believe, either that or Blow by Blow, come to think of it, it may be blow by blow, but my memory is hazy.
Blow by blow - and the Tamer is right - it's a fantastic version.
