Oh Eva! That's sweet! But really not necessary. I'm a bit worried that if the magnets are smallish that thye will end up disappeared or down the throat of some little playmate - which is why I didn't buy one for Mo when I saw the kid's version. I'm bowled over by your offer!

Oh my gosh! Is that Edward on fire? That is one freaky website, Reyn!

I love Edward Gorey too. I think those Lemmony Snicket books are a tribute to him.

A nice collection of practical, humor and beauty is evidenced in calendar selection! That seems really appropriate for this crew.

I knew Gorey when I was a kid, because he worked in the same book publishing company as my mother did. I remember him offering me brownies his mother baked. This was before he was famous.

That's cool, Brandon!

It seems that littlek has some kind of Gorey connection too but I don't really remember what it is. He was her parent's neighbor or something like that.....

She was an editor. Maybe he was an illustrator. He was just a nice young guy at that time, but we got all of his early books as gifts from him. I don't remember a lot because I was about 10 years old.

No small magnets...the calendar just has a long magnetic strip on the top edge...it's made for a refrigerator door. It also comes with lots of stickers for holidays, birthdays, meetings, appointments, etc. and my son loves sticking them on all the right days. And it has large squares so there's room to write in all sorts of stuff. Seriously...I don't know what to do with this extra one. I didn't save the receipt. I've been trying to figure out who I could give it to.

You may have seen it in stores. Here's a couple of images...

(I always cut off the pocket on the bottom so it's not so big.)

This year I have no free-through-the-mail calendars, but I have 2006 blocked out on two spiral backed calendars from Agway. One is shelved on my desk and the other hangs on the freezer in the kitchen.

The pictures of the baby animals are a bit icky, but the spiral back makes it easy to locate on my desk shelf and in the kitchen accommodates a pen.

I have the exact same one as Phoenix.

For about 10 years (starting in college and then for a while afterwards) I had Hungry Mind calendars. They were the best. (Like a Daytimer but with REALLY good quotes. From a now-defunct independent bookstore in St. Paul.)

Wow, Eva. How cool is that! I can't wait. Thanks again.

I like spiral bound things better than regular bindings because I can leave things proped open to the right place. I don't know why more calendar/notebook whatever publishers don't use them.

You have your calendar blocked out? Judging my my past I must prefer to have things sneak up on me.

I hate hearing about defunct independant bookstores. I try to support them but it isn't always easy and now with the internet.... and a kid... I find myself shopping online quite a bit more.

I've become a bit lazy in trying to support independant business owners. I should try to do better.

Ours is Ancient Images of the Southwest. I couldn't copy the photo so it must be copyrighted. It is of most of the old places that are so beautiful and mysterious; all of which are places Dys and I love.

I've also kept a few old Gorey and Far Side calendars just for their cleverness and humor and, sometimes, for the events that I wrote as remembrances.

MY NEW CALENDAR IS HERE! MY NEW CALENDAR IS HERE!

Eva, that is such a cool calendar. We were able to stick birthday and birthday party stickers on it right away.

Thank you so much.

Mo immediately tried to commandeer it and I had to explain that sometimes mommies get presents too. He replied "No they don't! Little boys get presents!" Then he tried to hide it from me.

What fun! Thank you, thank you.

Oh, goodie! Mo likes it!!!

Tell him it's the "family calendar." It belongs to all of you. And he can put stickers on it for all his stuff...doctor's visits, play dates and everything. My son always wants to put the holiday stickers on first thing.

Enjoy!
