I needed some input on importing into the USA VIA- UPS. has anyone had experence with this? i am only wanting to bring 4 to 5 boxes at one time in , and I have heard that UPS uses there own customs brokers, and bringing items into the usa is fast and trouble free.
Also, what would bring up a red flag at customs, i mean, why would they put ahold on a certian item? what do they look for?
Customs can not "physically" look into each box that comes into the usa, so i was just wondering, as i see some post that state "there items were put on hold for inspection" and it cost alot of money for them in demurrage.
What is the usual way a package gets thru customs? i mean , it comes in off the ship or plane, and then what ? i needed a step by step account of what happens.... if someone has the time.
Hello Bill,
If you're trying to import goods into the US
you have to legally declare it with a commercial
bill of lading and an invoice from the shipper,
otherwise UPS won't even take the packages.
Even for private packages shipped to the US,
a custom declaration needs to be filled out, and
the probability that these packages are opened
by a customs agent, is very likely.
i dont know why people put there own spin on a question asked...
i did mention that i was going to use UPS "WHICH HAS THERE OWN CUSTOMS BROKERS" ... which means i know that there will be paperwork on the shipment, i never said anything about not having paperwork. your answer just makes no sense, and does not address any question i asked. wow
