Hair Color Strippers

Reply Thu 22 Dec, 2005 02:15 pm
No boys, down. This isn't a thread about strippers. Well, at least the kind you were thinking of.

I want to get the color out of my hair. I know they make color strippers but I want to know just how bad for my hair are they?

Anyone use one? Know anything about them? Thanks!

Don't know much about this girly stuff, but, whatever you put on covered up a load of stuff that you didn't want to be seen.So your hair grew.So why not re-do it or do another colour that is nearer to the original.

yeah, why do you want to strip your hair?

Are you going to go really blonde?

What color is it now? What's the natural color?

Would you consider just coloring it darker?

If you did that with permanent color, then you could just use those semi-permanent shampoo ins for a while until enough of your own color grows out, and then stop the shampoo ins.

I can't imagine how striping it wouldn't be really harsh to your hair.

How do you feel about really short hair for awhile?
I've only seen one picture of you, but you've got a face for short hair. Cute w/ small features.

I can't because nothing will cover this freaking red. My natural color is light brown.

When did you put the red in?
What kind of product did you use?

Two months, and it's still sticking.
Wow.
You must have some natural red in your natural base colour.
Wow.

Permanent/semi-permanent ... ?
Has the red faded at all?
Is it sort of a layer of faded red below light brown roots?
Have you gone to the website for the manufacturer of the product?

Ok - now we're talking....

couple questions

did you color this yourself, or have it done professionally?

If you did it yourself, what was the brand and # on the box?

For instance I use Feria....

The higher the # the lighter the color, just checkrf it out and for instance

100 is SUPER Blonde, almost white

69 or 70 is a red I used to use until recently, decided it was too bright and went down to

67 which is a rich auburn, it's really got a lot of brown in it

moving down

45 is French Roast
40 is Espresso

Personally, I find Feria will cover ANYTHING that's under it. I am 100% gray now (don't tell anyone), but you'd never know it. Gray is the hardest thing to cover.

You don't think a medium brown would cover it? That and a short haircut?

I feel your pain bella.

I'm as surprised as ehBeth.

Red is the hardest color to keep.

Is is like "old stripper from the 50's red"?

I must have been. It faded horribly but was still very much there. It just faded to a dull red. Weird.
My hair is very receptive to color.

I did, by the way, not go with the stripper. I went to Sally's Beauty Supplies and got some industrial professional color and did it at home, thinking if that didn't work, I'd just have to spend the money at a salon.

Well, it worked. But my hair is DARK.

Thanks guys!

Maybe consider going for a professional colour correction back to your natural colour before you adventure further?
