In one of my previous posts, I referenced
"When Elephants Weep" a book which described the reactions of art luminaries Willem and Elaine De Kooning on being confronted unknowingly with an elephant drawing. TThey praised it for its "flair, decisiveness and originality". When informed of the true identity of the artist, Willem exclaimed: "That's a damned talented elephant."
And who says art is solely the domain of humans?
Reyn, I'm not surprised. I think many artists like poets and writers, etc. , once they become established, laugh at the phony appreciators
Hey, shepaints. Great to see you again. De Kooning got out of that with grace, No?
I think De Kooning showed both grace and humour Letty.
Great to see you again too!
shepaints, have you seen any of Reyn's collages/montages? They are excellent.
I'm particularily quite fond of
THIS ONE
I loved that one, too. Reyn.
Well, I'm going to say goodnight on the radio thread and try and sleep.
Hugs to you and shepaints.

Thanks, Letty. Goodnight and all the best.
The apes are closest to humankind so it's not surprising that one can have intuitive ability tied to a sub-conscious intelligence to create abstract paintings. That's the whole idea of abstract painting, to block out as much cognitive imagery as possible and paint exclusively in color, form, light and composition. It belies the notion that we as humans have an exclusivity to creativity. After all, there are many, many humans who can't paint worth a damn.
I've been struggling for years to paint like either a chimp, a human child, or an elephant.
Hi, LW. Good to see you.
Hi, Letty. Good to see you, too!
Hee! Hee! and nice to see this little fellow as well:
Now that I have free time on my hands, I'm up to all kinds of mischief!
ah, Reyn, we love mischief makers, right all? I am trying to whistle Dixie while waiting for Francis to respond on the Where Am I thread.
I think that painting, "Memorabilia," by Kokomo Jr. if quite good.
You're right, JL. He has a familiar style
I am particularly enarmoured by the artist's confidence.....
Goodnight, you fun folks.
This turned out to be a wonderful thread, Reyn. <smile>
