Is this sort of research going too far? Or, could the end result be useful?
I'm undecided as yet.

People and rabbits. That could spark a whole new magazine for Playboy Bunnies. Seriously though. There's little that crosses the line with cloning research. It's all for the good of medical research and advancing the human race because frankly, God's work leaves a lot to be improved upon.
As long as these new hi-breads don't result in a new intelligent species.

This article is stretching the truth for commerciability, though...so take it with a grain of salt.
For instance, they mention that a professor at Stanford is growing a mouse with a human brain, which is a wild oversatement...he is simply trying to get some human neurons into a mouse's brain, and they've agreed that their research will be terminated if by some freak accident they ended up actually increasing the intelligence of the mouse or imparting any aspects of humanity to it.
