I finished my holiday shopping yesterday thanks to Bella's nudge!

I even got several photos ready to print. Only a few more to go!

Yipee!

I do have to go to the grocery today since it looks like we'll be celebrating at home (fingers crossed).

I have 10 people to buy for so really, it's only $100 a person, which considering the price of things, isn't that much....is it? Am I nuts?

Double Income No Kids.

When spending $100 each on 10 people seems reasonable enough. :-) (I've been there...)

Ahh, yes I just read the thread.

How much do you think you spend on your kids for Christmas?

About $50, probably, but she's the second-highest expense.

My mom's the highest if I buy all-new -- I'm making almost everything so for materials she's probably around $50, too.

Then everyone else is more like $25 or $10/ each.

Wow! How do you do it? Seriously, I would be extremely interested in where you shop, what you buy, that sort of stuff.

All over the place.

For my mom (Mom, if you're lurking, look away!!!) (I don't think she lurks but you never know), I have gotten (back in August or so) a very nice white cotton shirt from Eddie Bauer Outlet way on sale (about $5, from originally about $40), I have bought some very high quality linen from a fabric store that is going out of business for about 75% off that I am going to sew her a skirt out of, I already have various semi-precious stones and silver beads that I'm going to make some more jewelry out of (not sure exactly what I'm going to make, probably $10 worth of materials) (can post a pic of other jewelry I've made for an idea if you'd like), a potted plant that I bought as a $2 little thing and grew to a monster over the summer in a ceramic pot I already had (but brand-new), and a special thing for watering plants, hand-blown glass, a sort of a mini mater tower, you fill the bulb with water and stick it in the plant and the water gradually seeps into the soil as needed. (She loves plants but is terrible about watering them, the plant is asparagus fern which I've found to be nearly indestructable.)

Also assorted ornaments that I already have from sale shopping last year and that we (sozlet and I) will make, that go on packages for decoration. (We're also big on wrapping/ decoration.)

May add a few more things, including notecards made from sozet art, $10 at Shutterfly. (Send the art instead of a photo.)

Basically, I start shopping early, love sales (I'm not interested until it's about 75% off), and make a lot.

Didn't make the hand-blown glass plant-watering thing, heh, that was about $10 on sale over the summer.

That seems like a lot of money to spend on gifts per person.

a good way to cut out the holiday gift buying rush is to start your gift shopping during the back to school sales.

sheesh...
even furniture stores have GREAT sales during that time of year.

Buy em, and put them away.
You can then- afford more gifts, can take time to find that ..perfect.. gift AND save money

Not when a sweater runs you 50 bucks. I probably will more realistically spend $50-$75 per person this year. I honestly don't think that's a lot considering the cost of things.

And soz, I am jealous. I am not good at making gifts. They come out looking homemade in a bad way, not all nice like some people can make them.

You seem to have a good creative/ artistic streak, I bet you undersell yourself.

Depends a lot on the taste of the gift recipients, though, too.

Just finished ordering these -- three sets of 12 notecards from Shutterfly ($8/each), then will redistribute so it will be three sets of notecards that have four each of these three designs (sozlet drawings):

The notecards are 3.5 X 5 inches. They'll go to grandparents.

Oh they're big!!!

Sorry.

Thought they'd be thumbnails.

Shutterfly creates this image to show you what they'll look like, so an example:
