I have three or four large boxes of comic books from the 50s. They are not in top shape, but neither are they torn or battered. Is it possible that I could sell some of them? How do I approach this situation; I mean step 1, step 2, etc?
Step 1. Get the latest edition of Overstreet's comic collectors price guide.
Step 2. Go through the boxes and research what they are worth. If it seems like they are worth a decent amount get yourself some plastic protective sleeves from a comic dealer. (Don't tell the dealer about your collection)
Step 3. Post back here when you have completed steps 1 & 2.
LionTamer is correct. You should also go ahead and purchase comic bags and back boards and board up the entirity of comics you wish to sell. It gives the image that you've taken better care of them than you probably have.
Also, step3: Don't get too excited thinking you'll make a ton of money. Unless you've got an extremely rare book or two, you're looking at an average of $.75 - $1.00 per book, and comic shops likely won't buy them all individually, but offer you a set price for the entire lot.
Be sure you follow Lion's steps 1 and 2 before trying to talk comics to a seller.
Thank-you, it may take a while, but I'll get to it.
when I tried to sell my comics I was told by several shops they would only take complete series. I have about 400+ and they are all from the 80's and in perfect condition.
