At least 1,500 people were executed worldwide last year, with 81 percent of all known executions carried out in China, Iran and the United States.
Besides this, the United States leads world in Juvenile Offender Executions.
(
The number of people executed by governments worldwide fell dramatically last year, but increased in the United States, which is the only known country worldwide to apply the death penalty for crimes committed as juveniles.)
