CAN I TRUST AOL?

Reply Tue 1 Nov, 2005 11:51 am
My first computer came with AOL...you know the story. I forget all the problems I had...so, I erased it from my system. Now, years later AOL AIM knocks at my internet door. Hmmm, lots of goodies are offered. Can I trust AOL? Has it changed its ways?

no.
they have not changed.
But they have brought more attention to HOW TO fix their problems.

the only claim to fame they have at this point is the built in virus blocker and spam blockers.
BUT- you can truthfully get that with most ANY internet provider today.
AOL has more personal choices.. but for the most part, they really are not all they are cracked up to be.
That empire is slowly crumbling.
When I left that company they had 22mil customers.
I think they are down to .. 9? maybe less?

You can have AIM without AOL. One is not required for the other.

Don't load AOL, ach, so many issues with them. But AIM seems to be okay.

oh yeah. AIM is safe.
Safer then the aol program.

One thing I learned when working there , was how aol is programmed to ask you ..in terms most people dont understand.. if you want it to be your primary search engine.
Wich means..you can NOT use anything else other then aol. Unless you know how to change that setting that is. And even if you choose a diffrent service later on, AOL still pops up as a search engine/homepage..e tc..
Rolling Eyes

It was after I learned that, that my stay with that company became a very short lived one.
To me, that is just snaky business.
