I've been having a problem with Javascript on my computer for the last half a year or so. Out of the blue, my comp decided to stop responding to Javascript requests from sites (such as a window popping up). When I click on the link, in the bottom left corner of the webpage it says "javascript:'certain-request'" and nothing happens when clicked. I've also checked out my settings - scripting is enabled, along with javascript itself. I would appreciate ANY advice you could give me. Thank you so much!
(On a side note, I'm using Windows XP with AOL 9.0 Optimized SE as a main internet connection. I have McAfee installed but the updates never load for me. Help!)
Java
Maybe you just should try to delete Java from your computer and then wisit their site and install it again?
Could be related to your firewall or to other privacy/security settings or software. Try resetting all of your Internet Options security and privacy settings to "Default", and temprarily disabling your resident firewall and/or popup/adblocking software, if any, and see what happens.
Oh - and Spike...em - just FYI,
Java and
Javascript are two entirely different things. Deleting and re-installing Java would have no effect on Javascript issues.
Sounds like an idea, I'm just hoping it's not a virus or worm on my computer that's not allowing scripts.
Thank you for the advice. I suppose it's worth a shot, I haven't got any other choice.
Just a quick note that I tried putting my internet and firewall settings off or to default, and the links still didn't respond.
Maybe it would be in my best interest to have someone take a look at my computer - as reluctant as I am to the idea. =/
JAVA and JAVASCRIBT
Oh, well..... I don't blame anyone...
