I really didn't, no!!

Hee hee...

Well, if you're driving, though, that's not so bad. Did it take up a lot of useful space? I'd imagine a suitcase could just sit there under everything without being too much of a bother. Smart to pack them separately, too! :-)

I went to this fascinating place called, "Antelope Canyon", near Lake Powell, in Page, Arizona. It is on Native American lands, and you can only get in accompanied by a native guide. I got some really super pics.

Early one morning, at the Grand Canyon, I was amazed to see some Big Horn Sheep marching around, oblivious to the people gawking at them.

I have about 150 pictures that I took on this trip. I am attempting to sort, and make some sense out of them. I will share some of them with you, when I am able to pick out the best. Right now I have discovered that I must have at least a half dozen picture processing programs on my computer, and it is driving me nuts!

Really super indeed! Wow. Those two top ones, matted and framed, would be gorgeous as a pair on your wall.

In the Grand Wash of the Capitol Reef National Park, I found a spot where the earth had been soaked with water, and then had subsequently dried and cracked. I found the pattern that was made very interesting, so I snapped a picture of it.

I shot this from the terrace of my motel room in Torrey, Utah. It is near the Capitol Reef National Park.

These are petroglyphs scratched into the rocks by ancient peoples. They are found in the Petrified Forest/Painted Desert.

Thanks so much, Phoenix, for sharing your photos with us. They are very artistically done!

The ones of Antelope Canyon have those nice flowing lines that makes the walls look like mousse. How have they been formed? By water or wind?

I think that this is from Zion National Park. During the time that we were out, we went to Zion, the Grand Canyon, Antelope Canyon, Capitol Reef National Park, and Canyonlands. After awhile, I find it hard to remember which is which!

Oh, I nearly forgot Arches. I expected to find the arches all over the place, but there were mostly beautiful rock formations.

When your were at The Arches, did you hike into the Fiery Furnace?

I had to spend an extra day there because I didn't want to be part of a guided tour. The only way they'll let you hike in the Fiery Furnace without a guide is to listen to a ranger talk about common sense stuff that you could learn from a brochure in 30 seconds. The ranger droned on for almost 45 minutes.

It was worth it though. I spent a long time in the Fiery Furnace. On that particular day it really lived up to its name because the temperature was in the high 90s.

Phenomenal rock formations and a whole shitload of lizards.

The approach to Zion National Park is absolutely gorgeous. Here is a picture of a tunnel that was cut through the red rock.

The back road out of Moab up the river canyon to Cisco is as magnificent as any of the parks nearby and leads you to the Colorado National Monument just across the state line.

One of the most beautiful spots that we went to was Route 12. It is considered on of the top 10 scenic roads in the US. The road is very curvy, close to the edge of precipices, and it IS a bit teeth gnashing to navigate with relative equanimity. Unfortunately, the day we went on the road, it was a bit drizzly, but I think that you will get the idea.

Gus- No, I did not do the furnace....................next time, I hope. The more that I think about it, the more I want to go back. There is such a sense of grandeur, yet peace, that I find so enticing. I think that a person could probably hang around that area for months, and not see everything. I just have the sense that I want to drink everything in!
