OK, guys and gals.............I am back from nearly a month on the road. I returned to 31,368 A2K posts. Now you know that I love you all, and would like to hang on to each and every of your words, but alas, it is physically impossible.
If anything wonderful, terrible, or hysterically funny has happened while I was off the see the U. S. of A, I would appreciate a PM or a response to this thread.
In the meantime, once I get my act together, and my bags unpacked, I will get my pictures from my handy dandy new digital camera together, and get a link to you so I may share some highlights of my trip with you.
(If my digital pics turn out as lousy as my film shots always were, I might just send the best of the lot  )
welcome home pheonix
where did you get to?
Phoenix--
Funny, there is a term for "safe traveling" (bon voyage) but no word for saying "safely home".
I'm glad you're back. Your common sense has been missed.
Hold your dominion.
We went to the Grand Canyon, Arches National Park, Capital Reef National Park Canyonlands, Antelope Canyon (where I think I got some great pics) and and Moab, (which I REALLY liked).
My husband did not want to fly, so we drove all the way. I wanted to share the driving, but we get into such hassles over that, so he drove it all the way himself.
Funny, I'm leaving Phoenix in a while...
I'll take "bon retour" for me too.
Glad to see you back, Phoenix!

... and "un bon vol, Francis"!
Phoenix, it sounds like you went to some of the same places I did earlier this year. I camped outside of Moab (I also really liked the town) My campsite was right on the river and the opposite bank was a towering red rock cliff. A spectacular site to wake up to. I also spent a good deal of time in The Arches and Canyonland. Did you hike into the Fiery Furnance? Phenomenal!
We'll have to compare notes. Where did you eat in Moab. I ate in some Mexican restaurant that was filled with lizards. (on shirts, coffee cups, etc., not real ones) Quite a ample supply of food.
The one thing I didn't like in Moab was the beer choice. Only one liquor store in town and it was a municipal with a very limited supply of bland beer at exorbitant prices.
It was a cool little town though. I might spend a summer there some time, rent a house, explore the area. We'll see.
Did you say Walmart? And this conversation had such potential.
Sounds like a great trip Phoenix. Similar to mine this summer, Zion, Grand Canyon (North Rim), Monument Valley, and Mexican Hat Utah.
Isn't it lovely and not green, hehe.
I envy all of you. I haven't been back to the SW in years/
It's Phoenix!!
Looking forward to pics and tales...
But most importantly, how did packing go??? :-D Did you pack too little? Too much? Forget anything vital?
Hi dear! I just checked, it's only 14+k on my meter... Doesn't mean squaddly-dit if ya'll ask me... I missed ya'll but I had so much crap going on on my side, that I just HAD to let you go for a while. Am I bad for that? Hope not..
Phoenix, we went to Moab, Arches etc. exactly a year ago. I am still at a loss for words to describe all that beauty we saw.
We met Dys, Diane and Roger in Denver before we went on our road trip and Dys told us where to go. It was soooo great!
Phoenix, Welcome back, my friend. Looking forward to seeing your travelogue.
Hey, Urs and bigdice. Great to see you as well.
Well Phoenix you can be confident that is was not hotter than when we were in those parts. 111f at Zion at 9:30 a.m. and a only a little cooler at the Canyon.
Littlek, a friend of mine and myself are planning a trip to Dallas and back to San Diego via Big Bend and Carlsbad Caverns. You are welcome to come along.
We are going to fly to Houston then drive to Dallas via Houston and Austing so I can take care of some business I have there. Then drive on back to San Diego. You are so welcome.
