I would love to help my thirty-something daughter and find the title of a one-hit-wonder of the 80's. It was sung by a girl, and the lyrics were about leaving a message on her loved-one's answerphone. I suggested, "Hello, my name is Joanie", but that's not it.

Did it feature the actual number? 567-5849 or something? (That's not quite it, it started with a 5 tho I think.)

Thank you very much Sozobe. My other thirty-something daughter has come up with "Clouds across the moon" by the Rah Band, and we think that's it, but as far as I recall, it has nothing to do with an answerphone.

Soz, I am interested in finding out how you were able to forget that phone number. I will probably forget my own current telephone number down the road, but there is not a chance in hell that I will ever be able to forget 867-5309.

Just have read about it.
Actually there is a residual tune but I dunno if it's accurate -- I think it's from people on the school bus singing it and not hearing it on the radio or whatever. (When's that one date from? I could hear 'til '83 or so...)
Well ... good excuse, soz. Jenny came out in 1982.
