Quick question: would I fit into a ladies XXL tank top?

Reply Thu 29 Sep, 2005 02:36 pm
Answer me that.

I'm 5'10-5'11, weigh in the mid-180's.

How does a ladie's XXL compare to a men's large?

(this has to do with me putting together my halloween costume)

no. i think it would be baggy on you.
unless you WANTED baggy
with your size i would go with XL-for snuggy fit, but still abit baggy.

remember, womens sizes give for more room around the top of the chest then mens.
they tend to be a bit snugger on the shoulders then mens shirts and are not cut straight down

Well I'm pretty wide up top too...about 44 inches. Since a men's XL isn't that big on me, I'm still wondering if I could fit into a woman's XXL. I think they make them shorter, torso-wise too.

Eh, fuggit. I'll order it, if it's tight it makes the costume all that much better.

So this is for my Richard Simmons costume. It's going to read "Sweatin' to the Oldies."

Should I also put a picture of his face on the tank top, or just leave the text?

Got a friend that size? Try one of hers on?

I wear a man X-L shirt...and a ladies XX-L, but it also depends on what kinda of shirt and what kind of fit your looking for.

You going for sleezy?

According to this size chart I was looking at, bust from 43-45 is an XL. So, you might want to go with just an XL.

I'm going for Richard Simmons, baby.

I'm going to make my own shirt online, and they don't sell tank tops in mens, only ladies.

But what about the shoulders aspect? I'm a lot wider than a woman so would that make a difference?

They are measuring across the bust. So, measure your chest (at your nipples) and if it's 43-45, an XL will fit. Or...you could go to a store and try some on. Shoulders won't matter because it's sleeveless.
If you are worried about length, then we have to discuss that. Womens tanks are shorter than mens. An XXL might fit in length but then be way too baggy.

Ok, so an XL it is.

Bella, "go to the store to try them on?" Do I have no dignity, woman?

"Excuse me, women's department, please."

"Right this way sir, may I help you find anything?"

"Yes, tank tops, size XL and XXL. And your dressing room, please."

"Uhhhhh....ok."

buy fro Lane bryant. or another ' bigger girls' store.

or.. if you are buying cheap like Walmart type cheap? Get 2 sizes. believe me, one will fit in a way the other wont and so on.. cheap clothes for women are cut extirely diffrent even in the same sizes..

yes womens clothes are shorter in the torso , but if you want to look like Simmons, CUT EM OFF even shorter, or tie an 80's style knot in the front of them.
Very Happy

Major problem -- Simmons loves those tanks that are super low-cut on the sides.

Women's tanks are high-cut on the sides (small armholes), if your upper arms/ shoulders have any size to them at all the bottom will be right there in your armpit.

Oooh, here's the actual "Sweatin' to the Oldies" look!

If you don't have enough chest hair, you gotta glue some on.

And make sure those shorts are tiny.

I'm thinking you might have better luck at a thrift store/ resale shop -- it's all just so so 80's.

Are you going as Simmons or one of his female groupies? If you are going as a groupie go for the face on the chest. His groupies seem to wear a lot of pink and purple and don't forget a nice bow to hold your hair back.

Soz, my shoulders and arms do have size to them. If they're that small, I'll just cut it open a bit.

In case you all kind of missed what I was saying earlier, I'm ORDERING THE TANK TOP ONLINE, because I can put "Sweatin' to the Oldies" on it. Hence, the reason I have to go with a womens size. They don't have tank tops in mens, just plain t-shirts.

I'm going to look so hot.
