I have the song... but I'd like to attribute an artist to it and be sure of the name
I'm pretty sure it's called Skatman

Some of the lyrics (I hope these are right, I'm typing as he goes and he spits it pretty fast)

Everybody starts one way or the other
So check out my message to you
as a matter of fact don't let nothing hold you back
if the skatman can do it so you can do
I hear you all asking what's the meaning of skat
Well i'm the professor and all I can tell you is while you still sleepin the saints are still weepin .... something or another
I'm a skatman
then that bee ba ba ba badope
etc etc
it's a Dance Tune from the 90's

Any help would be awesome
Thanks in advance

Yep, Im sure its Skatman too.It was the deee bab ba bada ba that gave it away.
He didnt look like your normal pop star but a guy in his 50's in a dj with dyed scraped back hair and a stonking moustache.

John Scatman sang it.

I'm the scatman

Ski bi di bi di do bap do bap
Do ba do bap

Everybody stutters one day or the other
So check out my message to you
As a matter of fact
Don't let nothing hold you back
If the scatman can do it
So can you

Everybody says that the scatman stutters
But doesn't ever stutters when he sings
But what you don't know
I'm gonna tell you right now
That the stutter and the scat is the same thing
Yo, I'm the scatman
Yeah the scatman, I'm the scatman

Why should we be pleasin in all the politician heathens who would
Try to change the seasons if they could
The state of the condition
Insults my institutions
And it only makes me crazy and my heart like wood

Everybody stutters one day or the other
So check out my message to you
As a matter of fact
Don't let nothing hold you back
If the scatman can do it
So can you

Everybody stutters one day or the other
So check out my message to you

Don't let nothing hold you back
If the scatman can do it
So can you

I hear you ask all about the meaning of scat
Well I am the professor and all I can tell you
Is while you're still sleeping
Saints are still weeping
Cause things you call dead haven't yet the chance to be born
I'm the scatman.

Repeat after me
It's a scoobie oobie doobie scoobie doobie melody
Sing along with me
It's a scoobie oobie doobie scoobie doobie melody

Who sang...
The original themesong for the Banana Splits series?
Extra bonus points for those who can name the band that redid this classic.
