Isn't it funny how what was radical and immoral back then is now nostalgic and "safe" now?

If I'm doing a "family" type party, first thing I hear is "Don't play any of that filthy rap music", and then a few cocktails later the exact same person is demanding I play "Strokin'". Laughing

Play that funky music by Wild Cherry is a fave, but it's more of a sendup as opposed to "real" disco.

I like the disco songs that were made by rock groups trying to cash in. "I was made for loving you" by Kiss is a great song, and I know they'd probably deny it, but that is definitely a f*cking disco song!

Would "Brickhouse" by the Commodores or "Super Freak" by Rick James count as disco or more funk? I remember both being played in discos in Mexico -- the only discos I ever went to.

then there's anti-disco songs, such as "Sister Disco" by the Who...

Proof positive that KISS and Donna Summers were on the same label.... Casablanca.

Yep, that song definitely had that Donna Summers "I feel Love", thing going on. hehehe...

Oh, I just thought of another one.

Rod Stewart--Do Ya Think I'm Sexy?

And to think he started out as a blues guy back in the early 60s, and actually sang with guitar legend, Jeff Beck.

What a phony.

Definitely "Turn the Beat Around", but with a nod to Andrea True Connection's "More More More", just 'cause the popping in the background is so cheesy.

A rich phony who has had more hot ass than we've jerked off to at our computers, but a phony none the less. Laughing

That's the kind of 'disco' that was played in the black clubs here, boomerang. James Brown, Rufus, BT Express, Earth, Wind & Fire, Ohio Players, we twirled to lots of songs in the black clubs that were more funk than disco.

And I looooved that cut by Rod Stewart, by the way. I'm a sucker for disco strings (even if they are synthesizers). Laughing

So many choices...and I didn't even go to discos all that much!

Top choices list must include my two favorites:

(Burn baby burn) Disco Inferno...The Trammps

and my all time winner, which when I went I had to hear or I would be depressed...
It Feels Like I'm In Love...Kelly Marie

My head is in a spin
My feet don't touch the ground
Because you're near to me
My head it goes round and round
My knees are shaking baby
My heart it beats like a drum
It feels like
It feels like I'm in love
...

Brings back some strange memories...

Ohio Players, Kool and the gang, bar kays, Cameo, commodores, funk. Kicked disco's ass IMO.

Make my funk the p funk, I wants to get funked up.

P-funk...best concert I ever saw. The room was filled with pot smoke, and Bootsy was wearing a diaper. Classic.
