There are so many colorful characters in the Dickens novels, I thought it would be fun to run a game in which one names one and players guess the book in which they appeared. Answer correctly, and ask the next one, and so on.
First character: Mrs Peerybingle.
Mrs. Peerybingle? Doesn't ring bells.
'The cricket on the heath'
(Mrs Perrybingle)
.......................and Mr Meagles?
Great Expectations.
Newman Noggs.
side note: I find Mrs Peerybingle and I find Mrs Perrybingle in doing a Google search. I will defer to Lord Ellpus in the matter, me being less than expert in the subject.
The Old Curiosity Shop
Monk
Oliver Twist
Mr Mantalini
Nicholas Nickleby
Uriah Heep
David Copperfield
Jerry Cruncher
A Tale of Two Cities
Toby Veck
the Chimes

Mrs Wheathampstead
I know the name, but can't place her in a book. Somebody help me.
I've cheated and Googled and can't find her.
I know Wheathampstead is a place, but I can't recall the name and I think I have read all of Dickens.
If you want to skip her for the moment -
I present Mr. and Mrs. Boffin for your consideration.
Green Witch
I think your assessment is correct and we can go on with Mr and Mrs Boffin as the next challenge.
........Our mutual friend.
(I can't find Wheathampstead either......even though I was born there!)
Miggs?
Edgar deserves the prize. Mrs Wheathampstead was a figment of my imagination rather than Dickens after a bottle of sauvignon.
Meant to come back and explain...but forgot !
Sorry
Well, thanks for coming back to own up to it. All's well that's well.
