Im rather narked off to read that Cliff Richard has said he wont be releasing any more songs because they dont get any air play.

Admittedly Im not a huge fan, I love some of his more popular tunes but it still angers me to hear a great artist has been affected tis way.

Any opinions?

So what if he is 65!!The Rolling Stones/McCartney are still going!!

He isnt cool enough apparently, thats why he isnt played.
Admittedly its the 'trendier' stations for younger people that dont play him but I think its very unfair to just dismiss his music.
Im not sure if the atations for older people have banned him too.

I bet at some point some young DJ will get hold of one of his older songs and remix it, then he will be popular again. My money is on Wired for Sound.

He had been on various tv and radio here in (continental) Europe this year.

I didn't notice that he doesn't get air time. (His concert recorded at the Royal Carré Theatre, Amsterdam on 9th June with The Metropole Orchestra e.g. was broadcasted in some dozen countries ... live and as video.)

(I must admit, I've never been a fan - only a big one of the Shadows [without him singing].)

When I was in training for a marathon, Hank Marvin came over and joined me and my mates once, and trained alongside for the next two weeks.

Nice guy......I think he moved to Australia soon after....I hope it wasn't something I said.

I read that about Cliff Richards in a newspaper, maybe two or three years ago.

Most of his stuff was too middle of the road for me, but easy listening for a Sunday, I suppose.

I say bring him back....he is a bit of an institution in the UK.

And suddenly I'm reminded of my 'great love' in early youth: Olivia Newton-John Embarrassed

(Saw them - both - live in 60's, btw, in Bournemouth resp. at the Poole-Hospital-Fete.)

He was at his peak with the Young Ones, their joint rendition of "Living Doll" brought a tear to the eye. Downhill from there I'm afraid.

I'm not his biggest fan, but everyone should be given a few plays on new releases...
