Does anybody know if these types of events are held in other cities in Canada and the U.S.? I'm doubting that it's unique to Vancouver.
Women take back the night...and Stanley Park

VANCOUVER/CKNW(AM980) - Vancouver Rape Relief and Women's Shelter held its annual Take Back the Night event Friday night.
More than 150 women took part in the demonstration in Vancouver's Stanley Park. The Lost Lagoon area, site of some high-profile attacks on women, like the 2002 beating of Ji Won Park, a Korean ESL student.
The group says the event helps women exercise their right to use public space with freedom.
