@Aarondad,
Your son isn't gay. There's nothing "girlie" about dancing. It takes coordination, balance, strength and rhythm.

Be a better person than this.

So was Christopher Walken. Hardly the girly type.

It's a good way of meeting girls, too!

@hightor,
My friend and ex boss was a ballroom instructor. He met the love of his life on the dance floor. She reformed him from spending his life in bars, chasing random women. Prior to that, some years earlier, he was seen on the floor by Nancy Sinatra and she danced a few dances with him. I'm envious of good dancers.

@cmturner,
I was never a dancer but I used to attend a lot of dances because I played in bands. One time I got curious and wondered if it might be fun to learn so I showed up at the dance school in town – I was living in Hoboken, NJ then. There must've been thirty girls and four guys. It was the one and only time in my life where I had girls literally swarming around me. Discovering that I was a complete klutz, I struggled through one complete class and never went back.

@Aarondad,
The late, great Muhammad Ali was the inventor of the Ali Shuffle, which was rapid-fire dancing on the balls of his feet. I’d hardly call him girly.

Furthermore, it shouldn’t be the focus of parenthood to make your child feel uncomfortable if they don’t follow some narrowly defined gender roles. Enjoying dancing has nothing to do with masculinity (or the lack of it).

If your son (even at his age) was, in fact, gay -- would you love him less?
