You're on death row, and you're ony allowed to pick ten of your favourite artists to listen to as you ponder the outside world, in your tiny (padded & sound proofed!!) cell.

Mine:

Alice Cooper
Sisters Of Mercy
Queen
Journey
KISS
Fleetwood Mac
Heart
Chris Isaak
George Michael
Iron Maiden

The Stanley Brothers
James King Band
Doc Watson
Merle Haggard
Amanda Marshall
Jimmy Newman
John Mellencamp
Janis Joplin
Pink Floyd
Conway Twitty

(what can I say, I like various forms of music, lean towards bluegrass and country but occasionally.. of course this is making the presumption I would even want to listen to any music, I go weeks as it is without doing so, would it change on Death Row?)

I just ordered NWA's "niggaz4life" online. How psyched am I? Velvet Underground, too...someone fill me in on them. Don't know if I've heard them, just a ton about them.

Velvet Underground is the real deal--you'll realize how many people have ripped them off.

It takes getting used to for some first timers. Andy Warhol was their producer and the idea was for everything to be real raw, lo-fi, not polished or clean sounding. But eventually those melodies will come out and destroy you. Each album is different. "Loaded" is more produced and clean.

Loud Reed's rhythm's are the most obvious feature. Sometimes repetitive but that's the point. Underneath it you'll hear how layered the songs are. A lot of really dark **** without amped up guitars or agressive tempo. Just spooky and strung out. Heroin is the sixth member of the VU.

Some sweet ballads, too, even if Nico sings them.

Sometimes I have to be in the right mood--Pink Floyd is that way for me also.

Cool...I'm sure I'll like them.

Can you now give a similar synopsis of NWA, particularly their romantic ballad "She Swallowed It?"

No ****. The best thing about NWA is that you don't need to write a dissertation to figure it out. The message is pretty clear. **** tha po-lice!

SlappyI have always had the highest regards for your opinions but after reading this post it is perfectly clear to me that your mind has become distorted and you need to put to sleep. David Hasseloff for fucks sake?

Sadly most of these are on a CD in my car, when I go out with the girls we go back to when we were younger and we drive around singing them at the top of our lungs..
