it is in the 5 digit range. ;-)

but, all appraisals are changed every 6 months as the demand raises, or falls.
What i could get for it right this second, could change dramatically tomorrow, or triple next year or become less then what i pay for the safe box in 3 months.
So it isnt very -stable- but doubtful that it will ever be worthless.. simply because there are not many out there. I think something like.. 30? 40? have been recorded and insured in the condition that I have one in.
Yes, understood. That certainly is impressive. It all depends on what collectors are looking for and how much they are willing to spend.

Does yours look like the pic I posted a few posts back?

Isn't it amazing how something like the Howdy Doody doll is worth as much as you say? I doubt if the value will decrease over the long run. Collectibles like that will always be in demand, I think.

Some years back, I sold an antique camera to a NY dealer. Treated me fairly. It wasn't really valuable, so was glad to get what I got. Much has to do with condition and demand.

I do not think it weird that I should buy toys for myself. I have purchased four in the past month alone.

I had to return one, mind you, as it caused more pain than pleasure.

Now that's just plain silly. A little pain never hurt anyone.

Perhaps someone would like to
define "toy" more clearly.
Spanky's toys are for sure
intended for adults ONLY!

I send Bear in to buy mine. Embarrassed

I'm worried about the bank employees. I wonder if there are any that know Howdy Doody is in the vault, and refuse to enter.

That one cracked me up good! My wife asked me what the heck I was busting a gut over and when I told her, she said, Who's Ted Koppel?" Laughing

Im sure the howdy doody theme song would have left me with terrifying night mares..

seeing as how ugly the doll is
i cant picture it on tv.

( my doll is made of wood, and barely polished. You can see the wood grain on the face and jaw..I dont think there were very many of these made. If i remember my howdy doody history, this was a dis continued product )

My ex boyfriend has action figures everywhere... he's 21... he collects the scary ones from the horror movies... and I would put a million dollars on it that he still takes them out at night and plays with them...

and the other night I went to a friends birthday party (it was his 2 year olds birthday party) and as soon as he put his son down for bed all the guys jumped into his toys, opened them all and played with them for almost an hour...

and he is 21 also..

So I think it is rather common among men that age....

"The original Howdy Doody would probably sell for $1 million."
Buffalo Bob Smith
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

That grin. Those freckles. That playful innocence. Howdy Doody and his friends were our childhood. A large part of the fun of Howdy Doody (and other TV shows) were the gifts, give-aways, premiums, special offers, toys, bread and ice-cream wrappers, comic books, records, coloring books, T-shirts, watches, furniture and fudge bars, ad infinitum, associated with the show.

What was once cheap "neat stuff" are now valued "collectibles". In 1952, it cost $3.49 for a toy Howdy Doody Marionette; now it's worth $400 or more. The Flub-a-Dub Marionette, which sold for $2.98, now brings $1,300......

Buffalo Bob: Say kids, what time is it?
Kids: It's Howdy Doody Time!

It's Howdy Doody Time.
It's Howdy Doody Time.
Bob Smith and Howdy Do
Say Howdy Do to you.
Let's give a rousing cheer,
Cause Howdy Doody's here,
It's time to start the show,
So kids let's go!
