Is having your own wiki a sign that you made it, or can ANYONE have a wiki?

Hi. I'm just curious and I have wondered about this for a long time. Apparently there seems to be wikis for just about anything you can think of. Is having your own wiki a sign you made it, or can anyone have a wiki?

Please help. Thank you.

@JGoldman10,
I don't think I know what a 'wiki' is. Can you explain?

@glitterbag,
Wiki is the general name of a hypertext publication that is collaboratively edited and managed by its own audience.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wiki :

A wiki (/ˈwɪki/ ⓘ WICK-ee) is a form of hypertext publication on the internet which is collaboratively edited and managed by its audience directly through a web browser. A typical wiki contains multiple pages that can either be edited by the public or limited to use within an organization for maintaining its internal knowledge base.

@hightor,
Okay. Why? Famous people have Wikipedia pages.

@hightor,
Agreed, prior to joining A2K he had a checkered career on other forums and was banned from them.

There is still a trail, someone even wrote a play about him.

@JGoldman10,
It depends what you mean by 'made it.'

An individual wiki post means you've done something noteworthy or newsworthy.

That would include a lot of killers who see murdering people as some way of attaining celebrity status.

There's also influencers who are known for highly dubious reasons, including a woman who had sex with 1,000+ men in one session.

I would rather be forgotten than remembered for any of the above.

"Thus let me live, unseen, unknown;
Thus unlamented let me die;
Steal from the world, and not a stone
Tell where I lie."

Alexander Pope.

(He was a local lad.)
