Very, very scary article in today's New York Times about the realities of nuclear war...and what attempting to make it a "limited one" would bring.

Here is a link to it.

https://www.nytimes.com/2024/12/02/magazine/nuclear-strategy-proud-prophet.html

If you hit a paywall...PM me and I will send you a free link to the piece, which I think will not work here in the thread. But try the link first.

I'd recommend that you tend to your daily BM before reading it.

@Frank Apisa,
Yikes.

Reading through the comments, I thought this one was insightful:

With the world’s arsenal of thermonuclear weapons now under the control of leaders such as Trump, Putin, Kim Jong Un and Netanyahu, it is frightening to realize that the most “responsible” world leader controlling these weapons is now Xi Jinping of Red China. We are still standing at the brink of nuclear destruction but now we are wearing a blindfold and we are under the control of mad men.

Frightening, indeed. And, unfortunately, CORRECT.

Often I think that I want not to carnage that may come of the people now in power. But at other times, I get petty and think, "My golf game is about as good as it has ever been...and the most important thing in the world for me...is a warm day."
