I was watching an ad which was selling the classics of the 50s 60s and 70s - Moon River was one of them. Among the other ones which I enjoyed (they showed a preview of a sample):
- Spanish eyes
- At Last
- Unforgettable.
At Last - that is a beautiful song. I would like it played on my wedding day.
McTag is spot on, when Danny Williams was top of the British charts with moon river I had just got a record player for my birthday and three records of my choice and Moon River was the first record I picked.
It is a fabulous song to sing, too; really lets you rip with some lovely clear notes.
And lovely "falls": whatever the technical name is...
Danny Williams recording is superb and I think it is superior to any other version of the song I have heard.
Your huckleberry friend,
McT

It made me his Huckleberry friend 45 years ago although oddly he never did anything after that.
Don, you remember that; do you remember a New Zealand singer, John Rowles or Rawles I think his name was, who had a one-hit career in this country with a song called "Hush, Not A Word To Mary"
He had a fabulous voice, but I never heard anything from him after that.

Sorry McTag never heard of him.

I googled for the song: John Rowles. Big voice. I think he was from the NZ Maori people, like Kiri Te Kanawa
