Cereal mascots and you?

Do you have a favorite cereal mascot? Ever had one? What's the (ironically) funniest mascot? What's the stupidest mascot?

If a2k had a mascot? What kind of mascot would it resemble/be?

@tsarstepan,
Hard to say, with the exception of Tony the tiger, the bloke on the Quaker oats packet and the cock on the cornflakes box mascots were transient.

I remember Sugar Smacks had a procession of Jerry Anderson and Star Trek characters on the packet.

I used to confuse Tony the tiger with the Esso tiger.

When I was a bit older the Honey Monster became very big as the mascot for sugar puffs, replacing a bear, the honey monster is so big it's now honey monster's cereal and no longer sugar puffs.

other than that the prospector from Golden nuggets and Doc from Wheatos are the only ones to last.

we do get American cereals over here, (things like Chix and Lucky Charms, not Kellogs which has been over here for a very long time) but only very recently, and as they're imported they're very expensive.

For a nanosecond, I thought you meant a Borg-ified version of the Sugar Smacks frog. That could have been fun and nightmare-inducing.

@tsarstepan,
1. I grew up eating an assortment of cereals, especially during the 1970s.

2. The LAST time I ate cereal was probably sometime during the 1980s.

3. Some of the mascots that stands out in my memories included:

Rice Crispy Snap, Crackle, and Pop
Coo Coo for Coco Puffs
Sugar Smacks Dig'em frog
Cookie Crisp Cookie Jarvis

4. I'm sure there are others. This is just a few that immediately came to mind.

@tsarstepan,
The frog came much later and didn't last long.

The honey monster has pushed sugar smacks off the shelf, as it's the same stuff.

I still eat cereal, but none of it with cute characters. I love Captain Crunch but have to avoid it. Right now I have a store brand of organic O shaped stuff that claims to sweeten with real honey. I feel I'm being conned by the cereal makers no matter which I get. A mascot for A2K? How about one of Gary Larson's characters?

@Real Music,
I remember Snap crackle and pop, but that was it. Coco pops had many tv mascots before ending up with the monkey.

And here's sugar smacks.

@izzythepush,
Comedian Dave Gorman did a show on British cereals post WW2.

The first thing was ranking cereal mascots in order of friendliest. It turned out the friendliest mascots had the highest sugar content.

The following may not be true in America, but we had sugar rationing up until the 50s. When it stopped the cereal industry made a big deal of its sugar content, now the reverse is true.

Sugar puffs are now Honey Monster's Cereal.

Cereal used to be more interesting The premiums and enclosed gifts could be pretty neat. My brother got a submarine, which when you filled the reservoir with baking soda would sink, rise, sink, rise repeatedly. We got Lone Ranger and Donald Duck comic books. I got a camera by mailing the box top and 50 cents. Pictures on the box when cut out could be assembled to make train engines. Mailing the box top could get one an Orphan Annie decoder ring.
