Hey.
I've been reading a book called 'Nam' by Mark Baker. It is a collection of stories from the mouths of Vietnam veterans. It has me totally enthralled.

Does anyone have any recommendations for similiar material?
I'm looking for stories that are taken from the actual soldiers/nurse/those involved that have been recorded. I'm interested in any modern war stories.
In particular, I am searching for Canadian stories. Any help?

thanks

Farley Mowat served in the Canadian Army in Dubya-Dubya Too, and wrote some about it, but i don't know if was collected into a single book. I'm not sure if he wrote enough about it for a book.

There is an excellent book on Canada's military experience which is not quite what you've asked for, but which you might enjoy entitled Fighting for Canada: Seven Battles, 1758-1945, by various authors, and edited by Donald Graves. This book was so popular that another has been compiled, More Fighting for Canada: Five Battles, 1760-1944. You can read about it at the Fighting for Canda web site.

Company Commander by Charles B McDonald is realistic and touching. I've read it many times.

If You Survive: From Normandy to the Battle of the Bulge to the End of World War II, One American Officer's Riveting True Story by George Wilson

Platoon Leader : A Memoir of Command in Combat by James R. Mcdonough

These I can also recommend. Don't know much about Canadian literature.
