hi!
ok, ive mentioned on another thread, but for those of you who havn't seen that tread; me and my b.f of just over 2 years have decided that when i finish uni, in 2years, and have a full time job, we'de like to buy our own house!
what im wondering is, what will we have to pay for? i know this may sound stupid, but im not very clued up on mortgages, etc, so im trying to learn now instead of while im trying to get used to a new job/view potential properties!
ok, so here's what i can think of so far that we'll have to pay out (whether a 1 off payment, monthly or quarterly) :
*Deposit for house
*Mortgage payments (monthly or quarterly???)
*phone bill
*gas bill
*electric bill
*council tax
ok, im sure there's more than that - way more, but im not sure! please help me!!
thank you
x
I know nothing about this eaither but this is what Ive kinda remembered form friends and family.
Stamp duty
paying estate agents and solicitors
furniture
water bill
general maintenance of the house eg check its not built on a flood plain/its has a sound structure/doesnt have rot/mould etc or you could be paying out loads.
Sounds like questions and answers from UK. In the US you would probably also pay for an appraisal. Most mortgages come with points up front. You might want, but are not required, to pay for an inspection of the house. You might also get stuck with current year property tax.
Those are US answers, so who knows.
I just bought a condo.
$0 out of pocket for down payment.
Nothing upfront, but I think I may have to come up with 2 months of condo fees upfront when we have our first association meeting, but that's it.
I'll pay a mortgage monthly. Taxes monthly. Utilities monthly, which are gas, electric, cable/internet. And a condo fee.
