Facebook is pronounced beginning with a F sound, which isn’t a vowel. But FB is pronounced as eff-bee where e is the vowel sound, and hence the article an comes into play.
Should it be "an F" sound instead of "a F" sound? Thanks.

the letter F is pronounced "eff", so "eff-bee" is the correct pronunciation of FB.
but i can't think of an example of using "an FB" in a sentence.
you would say "an FBI agent"...
