Past Tense of Rend?

The line I attempted to make was:
"Perhaps he does not know it's bent;
Or he didn't feel the pain I'd thought I'd rent" (past tense of rend)
Looking it up now, it seems like rent is technically correct, but is that clear when reading?

@CStrat,
It's clear. The thing is, while not archaic, "rend" isn't used all that much in everyday speech. But the rhyme with "bent" helps the reader this way: bend is to bent as rend is to rent. "Bended" or "rended" would obviously be wrong.
