BREAKING NEWS: FOX News reports that Donald Trump is holed up with his lawyers at his N.J. Bedminster resort because prosecutor Jack Smith has informed Trumps lawyers he intends to seize Mar a Largo indefinitely because it's a evidence rich crime scene. This is a developing story

And to think, this latest indictment is just over the classified documents
There's still a grand jury in DC looking into January 6 crimes.

All those stories that came out in the past couple of days about Steve Bannon being subpoenaed, Newt Gingrich testifying, and Mark Meadows potentially cutting a deal to spill the beans -- that stuff is not related to the classified documents. That's a completely separate ongoing investigation which may yet still bear even more indictments.

Well, I sure hope the GOP enjoys having Trump as their nominee for president! LOL.

tRump's attorneys are such losers that the press informed them
of tRump being charged and the exact charges before THEY knew. The Guardian reporter just said this on MSNBC.

I knew they were incompetent but this is really clueless. He is screwed!

(thread/tonight) What I'm hearing... Trump is frustrated not just with the indictment but with people in his inner circle who reassured him for months that it was very unlikely to happen... source close to Trump says "too much happy talk for way too long" about what could happen

The Florida factor has thrown Trump's team for a loop since it wasn't always expected but they believe the DOJ has been looking hard at jurisdictional challenges, thinking ahead... another factor that has several longtime Trump people on edge: MEADOWS

"Why the f--- has he been so quiet?" one Trump ally fumed in recent days. Confusion about whether Meadows has cut a deal or not, lots of guessing about what his attorney, George Terwilliger, is telling him to do as he faces mounting pressure on Jan. 6 case (remember the texts).

Donald Trump indicted for 2nd time, in classified documents investigation: Sources

Last edited Thu Jun 8, 2023, 07:38 PM - Edit history (1)
Source: ABC News

Former President Donald Trump has been indicted for a second time, this time on federal charges in relation to his handling of classified information while out of office, sources familiar confirm to ABC News. He is set to be arraigned in federal court in Miami on Tuesday at 3 p.m. ET, sources said.

"We're learning from our sources that there appear to be at least seven counts here. This ranges from everything from the willful retention of national defense information to conspiracy to a scheme to conceal, to false statements and representations," ABC News' Katherine Faulders reported during a special report on the network.

In a statement on social media, Trump wrote Thursday he had been told of the indictment and insisted the case was a "hoax." He has repeatedly denied wrongdoing. Trump wrote he is "INNOCENT" and it was a "DARK DAY" for the U.S.

The unprecedented federal indictment of a former president -- who already faces a criminal case in New York City that he denies and who is the current front-runner for the Republican Party's nomination for the White House in 2024 -- further underlines what are potentially the most consequential prosecutions in U.S. history, with both global and domestic implications. Experts say a current U.S. government criminally prosecuting its former leader and current leading opposition party candidate upends long-held norms and could test the nation's democratic system in a manner that stretches far beyond the merits of the case itself.

@Brandon9000,

If your enemies pored over the details of your life, bound and determined to find a crime to put on you, do you think they'd come up with nothing?

You mean like stealing government documents?

That's the way things are done in a 3rd world country.

You mean calling up a governor and asking that he "find" enough votes to swing a close election?
Quote:

Not only have you flushed American democracy down the toilet, you've broken the election system.

The people who pulled that handle were Republicans, buddy. People like Newt Gingrich.
Quote:
The Republicans would never sink to the depth you have, but do you really think that if they're ever in the White House again they won't pore over the lives of prominent Democrats until they find a crime to put on them?

They've done that in every election, at least since Clinton and the open-ended Whitewater investigation. I seem to remember they tried to convince voters that Obama was born in Kenya for instance.

You've reduced America to a 3rd world style police state and broken the electoral system, perhaps permanently.

No. Your party elected a cheap grifter in an expensive suit and were too afraid of his base to take the appropriate steps to reign him in. The Republican Party failed the test and chose to follow a demagogue, just like some 3rd world style police state.

@Brandon9000,
If this was a police state boyo, the Orange shitgibbon would have been picked up in the dead of night. He's been given two years to fight delay, defend and now - you know, just like in a Democracy.

Most importantly, if this were a police state the Tangerine Scream would be in charge.

If anything, our Democracy was proven: no man, billionaire fascist or not, is above the law.

Congratulations. The US is not a democracy any more.

If it was a democracy the winner of the popular vote would have been president.

You fascists can't have it both ways you like to say it never was a democracy, it was a representative republic, and now you're bleating because your corrupt and criminal slobbering pile of orange **** is finally getting its comeuppance.

Trump is the one who ruined America's reputation, and prosecuting him will restore faith in American democracy.

That's the view of the rest of the World.

Trump's lawyers resign ahead of his expected court appearance Tuesday
Quote:
Former President Donald Trump confirmed on social media that he is retaining new representation, minutes after his lawyers Jim Trusty and John Rowley announced their resignation.

Trusty and Rowley said in an email to NPR that they will not be representing him in the Mar-a-Lago case nor the Jan. 6 investigation.

"Now that the case has been filed in Miami, this is a logical moment for us to step aside and let others carry the cases through to completion," they wrote.

@tsarstepan,
Well, that'll be grounds for an adjournment, won't it? The fat orange blob of blubber has to get new lawyers... unless tapioca man can 'handle' it. More delays. Will you guys ever get justice? He can probably spin this out until he dies of a heart attack.

@Brandon9000,
The charges against Trump are very specific and very serious. This is not a Whitewater or Benghazi. Trump is very credibly accused of intentionally taking highly classified documents, refusing to return them when asked, intentionally hiding them and obstructing those trying to get them back and then casually disclosing them to people who had absolutely no clearance to see them. Honestly, I can't see how any American could excuse this, regardless of politics.

@engineer,
On top of that, his OWN testimony is there on tape proving his awareness of what he was intending and his complicity in the crimes. This is TREASON, and as such, the opposing lawyers should hammer this point home.

Scratching below the surface is the nagging concern as to WHY he did this? Was he going to offer the documents to the highest bidder? Or was it simply an ego-trip that he had possession of them?

He’ll look great in an orange jump suit.

Trump didn't get charged with illegal possession over the 197 docs he gave back to the archives when asked. That matches up with how Biden, Pence, etc. were treated. Give back voluntarily = no rap.

Trump is facing charges because he chose to lie to the feds and hide documents.
