home
after supper and 1st thing in the morning during the week; afternoons/early evenings on the weekends; and during those pesky occassional bouts of insomnia

work
like linkat & yitwail, i find little pockets of time to "take a break" thruout the day.
2 drawbacks to doing this -- altho my place lets us surf to some degree, they also have it rigged so that we lose our connection intermittently; and the main program i run during the day (AutoCad) moves in slow motion when i have a browser open...

I post from both home and work. I find time at home because I have no TV, and spend about as much time websurfing as the average German spends watching TV. (about 2 hours a day.) I find time at work because my work consists of running computer simulations and attending meetings. There is some metaphysics attached to both the simulations and the meetings to give them the appearance of useful work, but this aspect can safely be neglected for now. From A2K's point of view, the important thing about my work is that there frequently is idle time between meetings and while the computer is occupied crunching numbers. It's enough time for me to get bored if I do nothing, but not enough to concentrate on anything important, so I read and post to A2K.

That's the theory anyway. In practice, I sometimes do get caught up in interesting and heated discussions, and my A2K postings do crowd out real work I would otherwise get done. I try to keep it in check though, and usually do a reasonably decent job at it.
