RIP to the amazing songwriter and singler who immortalized the Edmund Fitzgerald. (Honestly, I think most people only know about two ship wrecks, the Titanic and the Edmund Fitzgerald.)
I suspect you're right about the two shipwrecks (here, a third would be the Andrea Gail, but no one recalls the name, just that it's the wreck from the 'Perfect Storm').
He was all over the radio during the late seventies. Just a great musician.
Man, oh man, Canada is having a rough week. Tim Bachman (founding member and guitarist for Bachman-Turner Overdrive) passed away on the 28th, reported by his brother, Randy.
These are my faves from both:
Lightfoot (who Dylan was a big fan of!):
I get nostalgic when I hear his songs. He really was a gem. He had quite a few health issues. I hope his passing was peaceful. I still have his cds and vinyl going way back. I’m listening to “Early Morning Rain’ now.
He was wonderful, every time his songs come on I drift into a pleasant, enjoyable fog. His voice always sucked me into a comfortable place.

@jespah,
I was sad to hear about Tim Bachman, that song was (and still is) a favorite of mine. I have been worrying about what happens in a nursing home when they play music for the residents, I hope my son remembers to bring me earbuds.
