Hi. This is from 'Saving Private Ryan'
Captain Miller and his men unfortunately loses one of the team members, Wade,
who got shot in the spine.
Miller and others catches the German soldier who is believed to have killed Wade.
Holding up his hands, he surrenders.
First make him mark and cover Wade's body for grave detail.
With all their gun pointing at him, Miller comes near the German man and says,
'First make him mark and cover Wade's body for grave detail.'
From the context, I guess Miller ordered his men to make the German soldier
dig a hole and place the body of Wade by saying that.
Would you help me get a better understanding of what he said?
To mark and cover the body?
For grave detail?
@SMickey,
To write or indicate visually that this corpse needs to be picked up by the Grave Detail (see below).
Quote:and cover the body?
You're confused about this??? In most cultures, one covers the body with a tarp or a sheet. So, others don't have to keep looking at it. And to partially protect the body from the environment.
Soldiers who are tasked after the battle to respectfully remove bodies to be processed and sent back to the US (or their respective country) for proper burial. They're assigned to the Grave Detail.
@tsarstepan,
Now I got it. Can't thank you enough.
