I have absolutely no idea how this happened, but my e-mail is somehow signed up to some sort of german porn forum. There appears to be no 'discontinue' link as most mailing lists have, and even if there were, it is all in german.
I do not particularly want to surf around this website to find a way to stop service, but I'm reaching the end of my rope, and on top of these forum mails I'm getting so much porn spam because of this subscription I never made.
To be fair, I have no idea if it's pornography, or if it's a dating website.
Parkplatztreff-Forum is where all this is coming from. I googled it and the only word in english was 'SEXY'. Can anyone walk me through a way to get out of this mess?
I had to dump my Outlook Express and sign on to Yahoo mail to get rid of these pests.
Yahoo screens your mail and puts spam in a bulk mail folder so you don't have to deal with it. If by accident you do get spam you can mark it as such and you'll never be bothered by it again.
That was my solution
You could select the email and mark it as junk, or block the email address. If you're using hotmail, click on Options, Junk Email Protection, then Block Senders. Type the domain of the email address and click Add. I think other major email providers should also have something similar.
ohhhhh you have no idea how it happended.......that old chestnut!
Your email program should be able to block the email domain that the spam is coming from. If not, you can pick out title words (since they're in German, it's highly unlikely you would ever get legit email with those words in the title) and set those as conditions for automatic deletions. And, you should be able to pick out some specific return addresses, too, and tag those for automatic deletions.
Another thing you can do is set up a whitelist, that is, a list of people whose emails you always want to receive. Some email programs allow you to set things up so that you only get emails from a select group of people and everyone else is binned.
It's a four-pronged approach.
1) See about blocking the email domain
2) See about blocking individual emails, particularly if the domain option is not available.
3) Block specific title words. If you like, go online to a German-English dictionary and look up some likely words. I think we all have an idea of the titles of porn emails, so you can try that, but keep in mind that a lot of spammers will slightly alter words (e. g. v!agra instead of viagra, etc.) in order to try to fool spam filters.
4) Set up a whitelist, if that option is available.
change email provider to yahoo or gmail is the best way get rid of spams. you can also use your own domain on premium plan.
