(CNN)The FBI executed a search warrant on Monday at Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida, the former President confirmed to CNN.
Trump declined to say why the FBI agents were at Mar-a-Lago, but the former President said the raid was unannounced and "they even broke into my safe."
"My beautiful home, Mar-A-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, is currently under siege, raided, and occupied by a large group of FBI agents," he said in a statement.

Trump was not in Florida at the time of the raid.

The Justice Department declined to comment, as did the White House.

CNN has reached out to the FBI for comment.
This story is breaking and will be updated.

Crazy good. He was just whining he didn't know why this was happening - because he and his lawyers were cooperating.

His time in the barrel will be highly entertaining. I'm going to watch Fox and see all those heads explode.

He should have thought about the repercussions when the National Archives asked for the stuff back and he played stupid games. He's not above the Law.

Fox lost its licence to broadcast over here a long time ago, but it was still broad asting when Al Megrahi was released from a Scottish prison.

I watched Fox then, and it was brilliant, the presenters were all so angry, and there was **** all they could do about it.

I still believe Al Megrahi was innocent.

If they plan to prefer any charges they'd best do it before the midterm elections or nothing's going to come of any of the investigations of Trump and his co-conspirators. - assuming Democrats lose either branch of congress.

Trump ally Scott Perry says FBI have seized his phone following Mar-a-Lago raid
Source: Independent UK

Trump ally Representative Scott Perry says that the FBI seized his phone the day after agents raided Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida. The Republican congressman from Pennsylvania told Fox News that FBI agents approached him on Tuesday with a warrant and demanded that he handed over the phone.

“This morning, while traveling with my family, 3 FBI agents visited me and seized my cell phone. They made no attempt to contact my lawyer, who would have made arrangements for them to have my phone if that was their wish,” Mr Perry said.

“I’m outraged — though not surprised — that the FBI under the direction of Merrick Garland’s DOJ, would seize the phone of a sitting Member of Congress. My phone contains info about my legislative and political activities, and personal/private discussions with my wife, family, constituents, and friends. None of this is the government’s business.”

Mr Perry, according to Liz Cheney, is one of the Republicans who contacted the White House in the weeks after the January 6 insurrection to allegedly seek a pardon.

1. Congress can refer potential crimes to the DOJ.

2. The DOJ does not need a referral from Congress to indict or prosecute.

3. The DOJ does not require a referral from Congress to indict or prosecute.

4. If the Republicans were to win the House in November, the DOJ still retains
the authority to indict or prosecute.

5. But, I do believe that if the Republicans do win back the House, they would use
everything in their tool box to try and muddy up the DOJ.
