Olivia Newton-John, singer and actress, dead at 73

Olivia Newton-John, the Australian singer whose breathy voice and wholesome beauty
made her one of the biggest pop stars of the '70s and charmed generations of viewers
in the blockbuster movie "Grease," died on Monday, according to a statement from her
husband. She was 73.

"Olivia has been a symbol of triumphs and hope for over 30 years sharing her journey with
breast cancer. Her healing inspiration and pioneering experience with plant medicine
continues with the Olivia Newton-John Foundation Fund, dedicated to researching plant
medicine and cancer. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be made in her
memory to the @onjfoundation," her husband, John Easterling, wrote in the statement
on the singer's verified Instagram account.

I love this song of hers because it 100% goes against type. She was the "good girl" on the radio for a long time. But some stations banned this one!

Olivia Newton-John certainly gave her all in everything she did.
May she Rest in peace.

Olivia Newton-John was awarded one of the highest honours that a civilian can receive in Great Britain — she officially became a dame at the 2020 New Years Honours Services.

Newton-John became a dame due to her work as a world-renowned musician and because of her charity work and work on cancer research.

She was a regular feature on Saturday night television over here in the 70s.

Back then we only had a couple of channels and Saurday night n9rmally featured a something show, fronted by a singer or comedian, like Cliff Richard or Les Dawson.

She was often on those, appearing in sketches and singing her latest hit.

She also appeared on kid's shows like Crackerjack or The Basil Brush show, where there was a spot for a singer.

Basil Brush is a talking fox puppet, he still appears on comedy shows now and again, but as his audience has aged his material is more risky.

She was part of a group of individual singers who would pop up, like Lyndsey De Paul and Clodah Rogers, but unlike them she lasted past the 1970s.

@Region Philbis,
Just a beautiful voice. Xanadu was a work of ******* art and I don't care who knows it.
