i get all these advertisement emails from all these unknown senders in my regualr inbox. I know who is sending them and that they are because there are always small messages at the end of each one. I was wondering if there is any way i can trace the address of where the sender is sending it from.
How about tracking the I.P address?
yahoo doesnt show email sender's IP so tracing IP is out of the question
Yeah, yahoo does.....just have to change the settings............
oh yeah?
and how do i change the settings?
can you help me to know sender's IP?
just bookmarking the thread, so I can watch it.
okay
i thought u are telling me to get lost or something like that LOL
I'll have to get back to you on the changing settings thing...I'll have to go through it all again, and unfortunatly i am on dial up right now and it takes soo long to do anything....I will be on high speed in the next few days though, and will try and help you out...I know I have done it before, just don't know off hand.....
Peace
Ok, so this is what I came up with....not sure if it will help you, but you can try......
-Go into your yahoo mail account
-Click "MAIL OPTIONS"
-Then scroll down to "MESSAGES"
-"HEADERS" will be under that catagory
-Click, "SHOW ALL HEADERS"
-Then at the bottom of the page press "SAVE"
Now go back into your inbox, click on an email...you should have a big "header" I guess as there called, and within that should be some i.p addresses.....one should be yours, the other should be the other person...Like I said...should.....but I really totally have no idea as to how accurate any of this is...but doesn't hurt to give it a shot!
problem is that when i go to mail account or mail options...i dont see anything like wot you said "Messages" so i cant go beyond that ....
hmmm...maybe i missed something.......
If these people don't want to be found, there is no way to trace them.
Email headers are very easy to fake and the true origin of an email is very easy to hide. Most people who send spam purposely hide their true identity.
There are ways for a person to "sign" an email to prove that it came from them, but since most people don't do this, this is not useful for sorting through junk mail.
It sounds like what you want is a good spam blocker.
You're right ebrown, but sometimes it will narrow it down a little for you...probably not with a spam email for obvious reasons, but i've tracked my friends down for the hell of it before to see how it worked and it always came up with something.....
