Need help plotting two related data series on a combination bar & line chart.
Series 1, values in range 0-1500, to be the bar
Series 2, values in range 0-16, to be a line above the bar
I would like to plot together on the same scale without the lower values just showing as tiny marks towards the bottom of the chart, so the plots need to be proportional if that makes sense.
How can this be achieved, i.e. logarithmic or something else?
@Gargoyle666uk,
Why do you want to plot them on the same scale? Adding a secondary axis (assuming Excel) would allow you to make them to scale and also label them correctly. You could even change the scale so the gridlines matched.
@engineer,
I'll try and sketch a rough illustration tomorrow to show what I have in mind. I've never used a secondary axis.
@Gargoyle666uk,
It's very easy. Create the graph with a single axis. Select the line graph. Right click and select format. Change it to the secondary axis. A new axis will appear and scale appropriately.
@engineer,
Thanks for the tip. I'll try it later.
@Gargoyle666uk,
A secondary axis, that did it. Just what I was looking for. Thanks.
