According to some versions of the Pecos Bill legends, it was Sluefoot Sue, his girlfriend, bucked off by Bill's horse and bounced on her bustle until she reached the moon.
It was never shown over here, or if it was, it was before my time.
We just have references, Flintstones, Futurama and Warner Brothers cartoons. The ones with the two mice one of which kept calling the other Ralphy boy.
