Does "with the female patron her employer" fit the context?

Jenny wrote that it then dawned on her that the petite lady was a domestic helper, with the female patron her employer. The helper was not queuing for a seat, she wrote, she was waiting for her employer and family to finish their meal.

Does "with the female patron her employer" fit the context? If not, how should it be improved?

Thanks!

@tanguatlay,
I take this statement to mean that Jenny saw a small woman waiting in a restaurant and assumed she was queuing for a seat. Jenny subsequently realized that this woman was actually employed by a woman who was dining with her family and simply waiting for them to finish their meal.

It would be very understandable if more of the source were available but it makes sense to me as it is.
