A dishwashing liquid can remove oil easily.

Can it be called an "oil buster"?

Thanks.

No. That's not a phrase we would use. We would use the word "degreaser".

@Mame,
Thanks, Mame.

Doesn't "degreaser" remove grease? Used dishes are often oily, not greasy. Hence, what is removed from such dishes is oil. Despite that, the correct term is "greasy"?

It sounds like you'relooking for an advertising slogan as opposed to a factual statement.

Cleaning products are sometimes referred to as dirt busters because dirt only means one thing. Oil is not necessarily dirty, by calling a cleaning product a oil buster you're diminishing the fact that it removes all dirt, not just oil.

In short it's not a very good slogan.

@tanguatlay,
We don't say "oily dishes" - we say 'greasy dishes'. We do, however, say 'oily hair' or 'oily skin'. Oil and grease are both found in cooking, but we generally use the term 'greasy'. You could also say greasy hair, but not greasy skin. Confusing, isn't it? lol Just looking at my dish detergent and it says " 4 X Grease Cleaning Power" and one of my shampoos says "Recommended for oily hair". Soaps may have that, as well, but I don't know as I make my own soaps.

And in conversations, we don't use the word 'buster'. And izzy is right that it would be used in marketing, as in "dirt buster" or some such.
