Too bad the people running the country take bribes to make sure none of it happens.

@edgarblythe,
Crazy, isn't it? Hardly anyone, voter or elected, is against any one thing on the list and in over 250 years we're farther from it than ever.

@bobsal u1553115,
But you will read many excuses why it's pie in the sky or being blocked by those other guys. No responsibility acknowledged.

@edgarblythe,
Responsibility is always wrapped around excuses and someone else's short comings. I would die happy hearing a politician say, "it's my fault, I screwed up and ignored the voters."

The Russian economy is a basket case of inequality. 1% of Russians on 87% of the wealth in Russia. It's a disaster for Russia but not for the oligarchs who wish to keep it that way. Any large country with a successful economic system and a liberal political system makes Russia look bad. So rather than fixing their system, they find it easier to break ours down so they can't claim that liberal democracies don't work. Electing Trump as president has done wonders in splitting the people and further promoting the economic inequality. At this time approximately 1% of Americans own 67% of the wealth, still not as bad as Russia, but we're getting there.

@coluber2001,
The richer an American is, the more likely he wants to own other people one way or another.

Nobody of any worth is suggesting we become like Russia. It is increasingly popular for some to call themselves communists now. But if you read their words deeply enough and without prejudice, you will see they actually refer to real socialism, not the authoritarian thing Russia became, where strong men seized the movement and took out the elements of democracy. It's silly to call oneself a communist in my view, but socialism is the counter to an overbearing structure that is far more intent on world domination than even the USSR ever was.
