Anyone use one? I bought one about a month ago and used it quite a bit. It was a ninja. You can cook just about anything in it and the kids loved it when we would make hot dogs and wings. I even bought a cookbook on air fryer recipes. Then I was reading a little about them and the one I bought was Teflon coated which is deadly to parrots so I had to give it away. Now looking for a new one.
@jcboy,
I will have to look at the brand on ours.
Love it and use it nearly every day. Very good for things like French fries.
@jcboy,
Can you get the telfon one back? You have to heat Teflon to over 500F to get fumes. You can do that on a stove top but I don't think an air fryer will get that high.
I don't know if you can buy an air fryer without Teflon.
I once worked in a zoo where are the bird & reptile houses were in the same building.
The bird people cooked on Teflon, but one night they forgot to turn the pan off and it overheated and killed some birds. So I think Teflon have to be heated very high before its deadly to birds.
@coluber2001,
I just looked it up, one site said over 538F which I hope is beyond an air fryer's range.
@engineer,
Temps on mine only go to 400.

Too late now, the lady I gave it to loves it. I did find a few on Amazon that were not teflon coated. When I read about it being deadly to birds and there was no proven risk to humans, but it made me wonder if it was harmful to the dogs as well.
@jcboy,
My guess is dogs and people are at similar risk levels for airborne gasses so you are good to buy anything that meets your needs and makes delicious food.
I just checked. The air fryer brand I have is Dash.
@jcboy,
I use the Emeril toaster oven type air fryer. I like it, but it takes about the same time to cook something as a regular convection oven. For batter fried foods, I fry in pan with oil part ways and then switch into the air fryer to finish for crispiness. My tempura vegetables will take about 25 minutes at 400 deg., kind of long time.
When you guys are saying "good for French fries", do you mean frozen, or ones from potatoes that you cut up yourself?
@snood,
I made my own from potatoes, best French fries ever!
@snood,
A thought just popped into my head, about potatoes.
@jcboy,
There's a John Oliver video on it,Teflon is really bad, it's toxic and it's already in everybody's bodies.
@glitterbag,
There was a racehorse over here called Potatoes. His name is spelled Oooooooo. There was a mix up at the registry, the clerk heard "Put eight o's."
@izzythepush,
It would be interesting listening to a horse race announcer calling his name in the race. And the winner is Oooooooo by a nose. Oooooooo.
@Frank Apisa,
Hilarious. Little Miss Macho sounds like a bull dyke.
