Does an original and an original copy of a document have the same meaning?

Yes. You can have an "original copy" because in this case the word "copy" means "written material" not a duplicate of that material.

Original is the first version.
Original copy is a copy of that first version. This is accepted for many legal requirements, like deeds, birth certificates and wills.
