Why do Spanish-speaking people who are not Puerto Rican hate and envy Puerto Ricans? Yes, my question includes Mexicans. Can it be envy do to citizenship status? As you know, Puerto Ricans DO NOT need a green card. Puerto Rico is part of the United States. Puerto Ricans are not immigrants. Again, what is the problem between Spanish-speaking people who are not from Puerto Rico and Puerto Ricans?

When I was in Spain I never heard anyone mention Puerto Rico.

I am a Spanish speaking person with a Mexican part of my family. I have a group of friends that include Latin Americans from many countries including Puerto Rico.

Racism sometimes plays a part in this but I don't know how prevalent it is.
It's because of the way you pronounce your "r's," and "rr's." It's not to be envied.

Maybe?? Odd question. You might as well ask why Spanish-speaking people envy/hate people from Guam, American Samoa, etc....
I feel the same way about those people who live in the District of Columbia - what the h*ll they are not a state - what right do they have to live in our nation's capital!
It could be that Puerto Ricans, being Americans, are free. Non-Americans will never know true freedom.
(And yes, this is another Second Amendment post.)
