Hello guys,

I wanted to learn more about the process of moving to UK and what time should I plan my movement, How much money should I save to be safe also which part of the country should I go?(London, Brighton, Reading Etc.) I currently live in North Cyprus. I do have UK citizenship but I have never been there. I graduated from university and worked in various business such as real estate, translation jobs, supermarket, etc. Main reason for my desire to move to UK is my family. They are people who sees the world black and white and surround themselves with religion and old customs and judge people according to their own views. In this country it is difficult to the anything without someone else knowing and I happened to be Gay. It is difficult to live by yourself in this country as the salaries are not very good. ( Even if you differentiate yourself from anyone else, money you earn will not be enough.)

I do love my family however my life is not moving anywhere if I don't do anything.

Thank you in advance.

@mah94,
How much you need to save depends on how you live and how long you expect to remain unemployed.

You haven’t said that much about yourself other than being gay.

What qualifications you have?

You may have skills more suited to the North or elsewhere.

You talk about the UK, but all the places you mention are in the South of England. No mention of Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland or the North of England in your reply.

I would be very wary of moving to London without any job offer or contacts. You’re from a rural area, and London is huge, bigger than New York.

Brighton is the gay capital of the country, but that causes its own problems with people moving there purely for that reason and being exploited.

Do you know anyone in the UK?

Do you have any contacts at all?

Moving to the UK with no job offer or contacts is a recipe for disaster.

Btw, Reading is a bloody shithole.

@izzythepush,
First of all thank you for your detailed answer.

I want to have enough money that will last me for 3 months in case I don't find a job. ( this includes 2 deposit and 3 months rent )

I graduated from translation and interpretation department( ENG-TURKISH). I worked in various jobs.
Supermarket/Cafe when I was still a student.

I give Private Turkish lessons

Real Estate Agent

Currently, I am working in Finance business in a big company.

Many of my friends told me it will be easier to find work if I go to these places.

I do have a friend in Reading/Berkshire. ( but I guess it is a shithole Very Happy )

My mothers side of the family lives and works at UK but we don't talk with each other.

I currently have no job offers. There are websites to look for jobs but they will want a meeting ( but perhaps online meeting will be enough initially??)

@mah94,
I was being a bit flippant about Reading.

The company you work for, does it have offices over here? If so applying for a job transfer would be a lot easier than looking for a new one.

The south of England is the most expensive part of the UK, other regions are cheaper.

I’ve just googled where there are Turkish communities in the UK. London has the most, obviously, but there is an organisation called the Anglo Turkish society. If you contact them they may be able to help, or point you in the right direction.

@izzythepush,
Yes they do. I do believe they have hotel and betting offices.

Once I complete working for a year and get to know my managers. I will ask them if its possible to transfer me to UK.

However this is not certain.

Thank you. I will check the Anglo Turkish Society.

@mah94,
I think that’s your best chance. It’s a lot easier moving with work than trying to get a new job.
