Well I Did It

This sickness and it's subsequent loss of work and income has forced me to look at getting a regular job in addition to my singing and playing income, so while I had my nerve up I also went out today and got a "regular" haircut.

To my eye I look like I've confirmed to the world "56 year old guy with 20 maybe 25 years left to live." The one thing I've feared all my life has happened. I'm ordinary. Depressing. Crying or Very sad

For some reason, I have serious reservations about this statement.

Right, you will never be just plain ordinary blue.
We've come to appreciate you without seeing your hair,
and so will others.

But, you were so cute when you got up from your nap and your hair was all rumpled like a little kid. Very Happy

Don't worry Bear. It's the hair on the INSIDE that counts.

That didn't make any sense.

The hair has gone, but I'd guess that the strut remains.

Geesh, this month has been positively murderous, hair-wise. Seems like a bunch of us have had a lot chopped off recently.

My dad went through this about a couple of years ago; he's always been the long-haired bearded hippie type, got it cut just 'cause the long hair was starting to annoy him, has had it short since and loves it.

Don't worry about the "for a job" part of it, just revel in how much easier it is.

a song for bear, blue, whoever the hell you are today

Signs

V1
And the sign said long haired freaky people need not apply
So I tucked my hair up under my hat and I went in to ask him why
He said you look like a fine upstanding young man, I think you'll do
So I took off my hat I said imagine that, huh, me working for you

woah!

Chorus:

Sign Sign everywhere a sign
Blocking out the scenery breaking my mind
Do this, don't do that, can't you read the sign

V2
And the sign said anybody caught trespassing would be shot on sight
So I jumped on the fence and yelled at the house, Hey! what gives you the right
To put up a fence to keep me out or to keep mother nature in
If God was here, he'd tell you to your face, man you're some kinda sinner

Repeat Chorus:

Bridge:

Now, hey you Mister! can't you read, you got to have a shirt and tie to get a seat
You can't even watch, no you can't eat, you ain't suppose to be here
Sign said you got to have a membership card to get inside Uh!

V3
And the sign said everybody welcome, come in, kneel down and pray
But when they passed around the plate at the end of it all,
I didn't have a penny to pay, so I got me a pen and a paper and I made up my own little sign
I said thank you Lord for thinking about me, I'm alive and doing fine

Repeat Chorus
Repeat Chorus

(Oh dear, johnboy is going on a rant):
I wish, Steve, that you hadn't felt it necesaary to get a haircut in order to get a "regular" job. But North Carolina is still a pretty conservative place.
So be it.
I have, at last count, 32 employees. Whites, Blacks, Asians and Hispanics. Some of them have long hair, ponytails even. One guy's hair seems to change color everday: green to blue to orange. Some of them may be gay, or republicans, or whatever. I don't care about any of that. What I am looking for is people who will show up on time, help our customers find what they need, and get along well with the other folks. 30 years in retailing.
Good luck to you, bear. You are a tiger. -rjb-

That's a perfect theme song for Bear, dj

Johnboy, I agree. Wish more employers were like that.

I think they did a nice job over the ears, though. Wouldn't you agree?

Wow! Holy cow! I'll bet you look darn handsome though! Smile It's never the hair that makes the man anyway. You are and always will be our wonderful Bear, no matter what.
