Plastic disposable storage bags vs re-useable silicon bags

I recently purchased some silicon storage bags to use in place of the old disposable plastic bags. I know that plastic is bad! Not to mention wasteful to just use something once and throw it away. Plastic bags are also (or so I was told by a health coach) not healthy for you due to chemicals and so forth.

So I invested in some re-useable silicon bags; starting with the sandwich sized ones first to see how they are. The silicon bags are supposed to be better for the environment and healthier for you as they are bp free or whatever that stuff is you are supposed to be avoiding.

I think my biggest complaint is cleaning the bags. They are difficult to dry. You can put them in the dishwasher (upper level) but it is better for the product and extends their life if you hand wash. So that is what I have been doing. But it sometimes takes longer than a day to dry - who wants to leave these out.

Any thoughts on these? And have you all used them before?

@Linkat,
I heartily dislike plastic, too, but have no need for storage bags anyway. I use glass containers for just about everything. Edgarblythe informed me about microwaving plastic so I went through my 'tupperware' storage cupboard and threw them all out.

A couple of our larger grocery stores no longer provide plastic bags (yay, it's about time) but will sell you a paper one if you forgot your cloth ones.

Can you put your silicon bags outside to dry?

@Mame,
We have glass containers too (like you tossed the plastic and bought glass) - but they can get too be too bulky and heavy for packing lunches and they take more space in the fridge.

@Linkat,
They are heavy and bulky, you're right. What about using a hairdryer?

@Mame,
That did cross my mind, but haven't tried it yet.

@Linkat,
I don't know what else you've tried, but when I have regular plastic bags, I prop them open with whatever is handy. It helps just because the bag is entirely open to room ventilation.

@roger,
My mother (and all her kids followed suit) used to drape them over something like the dishwasher liquid bottle or a jar of some sort. But maybe the silicone is so heavy or dense that it just takes a while to air dry.

Just visited a site where they make them and this is what they said:

Washing/ Care: Dishwasher, microwave and heat safe. Place open side down over a glass to air dry.
